What can I do to prepare?
• Make reservations early, especially for the holiday season.
• Ensure your pets are well socialized and allow strangers to handle them.
• Affix current identification tags to your pet's collar.
• Maintain current vaccinations and a regular flea program for your pet.
• Give clear instructions during the initial interview detailing specific pet-care responsibilities and emergency contact information, including how to reach you and your veterinarian.
• Write down all instructions for medication.
• Communicate information about your pet’s personality, habits, likes and dislikes, favorite games.
• Leave pet food and supplies in one place.
• Buy extra pet supplies in case you're away longer than planned.
• Have a duplicate key ready to give to me at the initial interview.
• Leave a key and my phone number with a trustworthy neighbor as a backup. Be sure the extra keys work before giving them out.
• Show me your home's important safety features such as the circuit breaker, outside lighting and the security system.
• Remember to bring my phone number in case your plans change.
And finally, travel well and have fun!
